Real time spectrum display

Spectroid visualizes incoming audio with reasonable frequency resolution across the full range. You see energy across low, mid, and high bands as it happens, which helps you spot tones and common noise sources at a glance.

Understand dBFS readings

For level interpretation, the scale uses dBFS where 0 dB is the maximum measurable input of the microphone. Values are negative because everyday sounds sit below that maximum, so the scale remains consistent across different environments.

Pinch to zoom the spectrum

When you need a closer look, you can use a two finger pinch gesture to zoom in on the spectrum plot. This makes it easier to inspect narrow ranges and observe small peaks without losing context.

Multiple FFTs for low frequency detail

Behind the display, Spectroid combines several FFTs that overlap in frequency to improve detail at lower frequencies. This method can introduce minor discontinuities in the spectrum and waterfall, yet it provides better low end resolution while keeping the view responsive.
