The AFS is a collaborative community between Gastroenterologists and Surgeons who specialize in the treatment of Foregut disease. The AFS is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through training, education, and research in the field of Foregut Disease. We believe a new society is needed as no current American society specifically represents these goals adequately, especially within the diagnostic and interventional management realms of foregut disease. Expertise in the field of foregut today does require commitment to specialization, and foregut disease deserves recognition as a specialty.
