This book is one of the four most important books in this art, according to Ibn Khaldun.

Ibn Khaldun said, “We heard from our sheikhs in education councils that the foundations of this art and its pillars are four books: Adab al-Katib by Ibn Qutaybah, Kitab al-Kamil by al-Mubarrad, Kitab al-Bayan wa al-Tabyin by al-Jahiz, and Kitab al-Amali by Abu Ali al-Qali, and other than these four, it was followed by it and branches of it.”

Abu Othman Amr bin Bahr Mahboob Al-Kanani Al-Laythi Al-Basri, (159-255 AH) an Arab writer, one of the major imams of literature in the Abbasid era, was born in Basra and died there.

In his books and letters, Al-Jahiz adopted a research method, which, to say the least, is a controlled and precise scientific research method.
